Carson's Hunting, Fishing & Outdoor Blog

Welcome to Carson’s outdoor Blog. As we gear up for the annual Eastern Sports and Outdoors show Feb. 6^th-14 I will keep you updated on some of the hunting, fishing, camping and outdoor news for those of you who enjoy Mother Nature as much as I do. Let me start out by giving you a BRIEF history of my outdoor activities. Between Scouting and spending summer’s working on my relatives farm’s in Western PA I learned to fish, hunt, camp, ride a horse, find water and food in the woods, respect firearms and most importantly find spirituality in the wilderness.

I hope this Blog will serve one primary purpose, to become a “what can we do this weekend?” guide to PA outdoors. Whether you like to ride ATV’s through the woods or spend a day wading in a trout stream I’ll do my best to keep you informed of events, opening dates/seasons, equipment advances and updated State laws that affect you as you embrace the great outdoors.

Small game hunters still have some time to get out and harvest rabbit, squirrel, grouse, raccoon and fox but remember you need a furbearer permit for bobcat. Then there are the “always open 4” game species. Do you remember know what they are? The next BIG HUNT will be spring gobbler from 5/1-5/31 2010. More on that season in my next Blog.

FISH HEAD ALERT! Trout season begins 4/3 in 18 S.E. PA counties and then opens statewide 4/17/10. Walleye opens 5/1. One of the coolest programs in PA is the Fish For Free Day on 5/22/10. From midnight to 11:59pm ANYONE in PA can fish for free without a license but you must obey all rules and regulations. As I mentioned at the beginning of this Blog, the Eastern Sports and Outdoors Show is coming to the Farm Show Complex beginning 2/6/10 and it's a MUST for anything outdoors. The show hours are 10am-7pm each day except Sunday which is 10am-5pm. Starting the week of 2/8 1057's Peoples Morning Show will be interviewing  celebrity outdoorsman like Lee and Tiffany Lakosky. If you're an outdoor fanatic like me you'll want to receive my daily text blast, alerting you to each days outdoor celebrity guests and the hottest events to check out. All you need to do is join one of the following text clubs to get your daily alert and then each day during the ESOS someone will be notified they won FREE TICKETS TO THE SHOW!
