On Thursday (September 25), The Replacements shared the previously unreleased track, “Street Girl (Takes 1 and 2),” which will be featured on an expanded deluxe box set of their iconic 1984 album, Let It Be, set for release on November 21. The collection features rare outtakes and additional unheard material like “Who’s Gonna Take Us Alive,” along with liner notes from Elizabeth Nelson, music journalist and singer-songwriter from the DC-based band the Paranoid Style. This three-CD or four-LP set also includes alternate versions of fan favorites such as “Favorite Thing,” “Sixteen Blue,” and “Androgynous,” as well as Goodnight! Go Home!, a previously unreleased live recording from the Replacements’ 1984 Chicago show that features rousing covers of Bad Company, Kiss, and the Beach Boys. The release continues the recent archival retrospectives of the beloved Minneapolis band, following deluxe editions of Tim, Pleased to Meet Me, and Don’t Tell a Soul, reaffirming the enduring appeal of their influential indie rock legacy.
